A letter at Christmas.

Dearest friend,

My birthday is coming near; it feels so great to find out that at least once a year, there are so many people remember Me. Beautiful ornaments and glamorous decorations sparkle in almost everywhere to celebrate My birthday.

At first, it seemed that the people knew and thanked me for what I have done for them. However, lately most of them don’t understand why they celebrate My birthday… Friends and family are gathered without knowing the true meaning of the celebration. Moreover, they often hold a fantastic celebration full of delicious food and enchanting decorations, with beautiful gifts stacked at the corner, but they forget to invite Me! They don’t send me the invitation at all…

The party IS for Me indeed, but when the big day comes, they leave Me alone, they shut their door in front of My very eyes. Therefore, I decide to enter the room silently… I stood at the corner of the party. They all have a great feast happily; laughter and joy fill the room blissfully.

Suddenly, an old fat man with a white beard in a red coat enters the celebration. He then sits in a cozy sofa. All of the children, so happy to see him, run towards him, and sits on his lap. All of the people welcome him as if it is his birthday!

At midnight, they all hug each other, I open My arms, waiting for somebody to hug Me… but no one hugs Me… not even a single hug I receive… then everybody share the presents and each of them unwrapped their lovely gifts excitedly. All of the gifts are unwrapped; I hope there is a present for Me as well…. How it feels when on your birthday, everybody receives a present on the contrary you don’t get even one gift at all?

I’m finally sure that my presence is unwanted in that celebration. That’s why, quietly I leave the feast…

It goes worse each year. People only remember foods and drinks, presents, feast and celebrations, and no one who remember Me! In this Christmas, I do hope you allow me to enter your life. I want you to remember that two thousands years ago I came to this world to give you life. Today, I just want you to believe that with all your heart.

Though many people don’t invite Me in their celebration, I will be right here waiting patiently, until the dim candle in your heart becomes brighter and shines the warmth of Holy Spirit. I will be here for you, My dearest friend.

Have a blessed Christmas, dear friends!

Christmas Preparation

No time for sickies... no time for scraps... just pictures ok!

Yesterday was Idul Adha, a Moslem's Holiday... Happy Aidul Adha to those who celebrate it... :-)
the streets are so empty... I took my camera a long and had some shots while I drove for drama rehearsal.. hehehe.. not too good angle and picture though but clear enough to show you Bandung. It's 8.30 AM.

Photobucket

It's becak... empty as well... it is our city park name taman Maluku, there are so many err.. you know.. men dress up like women...(what do we call them?) at nights here.

Photobucket

I arrived at the church. This is our headquarter church, I don't go to this church every Sunday because it is quite far from my house. I go to the church in our area, at the 'branch church' the same name but different area. Our church has 43 branches in Indonesia, also in Singapore, LA and San Diego. I am so excited that the church has been decorated! Look behind the stairs, there are the Magi with a hole in their head so we could take our picture as the Magi over there!

Photobucket

The close up
Photobucket

At 2nd floor, there are some mangers over here... not finished yet, but I can guess it will be a stable with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus over here. There will be some people acting as shepherds, Jesus family etc... I wonder if there will be some animals as well..but I don't think so.. hehehe..

Photobucket

On the 3rd floor where we use to hold the Sunday service ... we can go up by elevator or lifts and here's the lifts door being decorated as well!
Photobucket

Here we are.... inside the fellowship service room... it is the stage.
Photobucket

We got our drama costume yesterday... Hm..hm... acha..acha...acha... a lady from India. Many things to be fixed to make the costume look better... hm..hm..

Christmas Meaning...

Max tagged me the meaning of Christmas for me. It's interesting to read many opinions about this beautiful season, thank you Max, for the tag. For my personal reason, Christmas for me is not about Santa, it is not about snowman as well (as there is no snow here), it is not about gift and though I love to be surrounded by my family at Christmas, the meaning of Christmas is not exactly about family for me... found out my reason by seeing the video below..that's what Christmas means for me.

Merry Christmas

For this meme I want to ask LB and Bok Jae. I hope you have time to do this before Christmas, but if you don't... I understand. :-)

Here are the instructions for this meme:

1. Make a paragraph next to the last paragraph in the tag that is passed to you “What is Christmas to you” and put your name at the end of it linking back to your site, or the page that answered this tag.
2. You can use a title that will suit your Christmas idea.
3. Then tag as many as you can.

Christmas is an annual holiday that makes my little wishes come true. A pair of new shoes, new dress and gifts from my Godparents. That’s how I defined Christmas years and years ago until… I came to Bahrain. That’s when I realized what it really means. A special day to commemorate the birth of Jesus. Here in Bahrain, Christmas is nothing. It’s just an ordinary working day for almost everyone, unless your boss is considerate, he’ll give you at least a half day to celebrate, if there are celebrations happening. But in my case, there’s nothing to celebrate literally. Everyone is at work, that includes my husband and myself. We attend the midnight (Christmas Eve) mass and that’s it, go to sleep and get back to work the next day, on Christmas day. My first Christmas away from home happened in 1999. I came here in October and had the most loneliest Christmas ever in my life - without my family. That made me realized their importance. On how meaningless celebrations would be without them. To cut the story short, for me Christmas is all about Jesus and family. If you have friends to celebrate this special day with you, that’s a bonus! -When Silence Speaks

A little while ago, I talked to my daughter about this year’s Christmas being different from the other Christmases we had. She asked me why. I explained to her that my husband and I are both undergoing financial difficulties since hubby has just been doing consultancy work since March and that means no extra money for the holiday expenses, not that we give expensive, extravagant gifts, we don’t. She said something like: “It’s okay, we don’t need expensive gifts, what is important is that we are together.” Thank you, Trixie, for making this easier. (Please click on her name to see what she has written in her blog about her thoughts on this.) We have always emphasized about the real meaning of this holy day. That this is about Jesus who came to save us from sins and give us eternal life. We always make it a point to go to church during the morning of Christmas day to give thanks to the Lord. Christmas is not just a holy day, not just a time of giving gifts but a time to thank the Lord for the blessings of life. TeacherJulie

Christmas is about the decision that God made to save mankind! The piercing truth is that Christmas is about so many decisions. First: It is the decision of God to send us Jesus Christ. Second: It is the decision of Mary to accept the will of God and cooperate in the plan of salvation. Third: Joseph decided to take Mary as his wife despite her condition. Joseph did not understand completely and yet because the angel told him so, he decided to say ‘yes’, too. Sometimes I feel that the yes of Mary overstated and the weight of Joseph’s yes was underestimated. If Joseph did not agree to the angel’s leading, the ‘yes’ of Mary would have resulted in a condemnable pregnancy that could have led to a dead mother and baby. Mary should have been stoned to death if Joseph decided to say no. Joseph’s decision was important. Fourth: It was also the decision of the wise Men to go another way and not collaborate with Herod who wanted to kill the Child Jesus. Fifth: It was the decision, too, of the shepherds to go in haste and tell the others what they have seen. So, for me Christmas is a story of decisions! - Dom

hhhhmmmm, ‘what is Christmas to me?’ …..it is something that is very significant to my heart… Christmas to me is approaching Jesus with an offering of simple adornments, not gold or precious stones but a pure and clean heart! It is important to remember though that it is HE who wants to come to me, to us. How we look externally and/or outwardly might not mean as much to HIM but only a pure and contrite heart!…. He wants to look into our hearts because it is there where HE wants to dwell to bring to it beauty and light. His wish is that here, within the deep recesses of our hearts and souls, which HE fashioned with love after HIS own heart, only one STAR shines brightly!…. So our hearts must carry HIM and HIM alone. For HE is the light, like no other. And if we carry HIM in our hearts, there is no need for make-up, jewelry, or even a brand new colorful polo shirt or blouse and skirt because we will radiate with HIS light and beauty and when that happens, there can never be too much. -Gbex

~o0o~
What is Christmas? hmmmm… When the month of “ber” comes and it’s getting colder, Christmas is coming and i’m always looking forward for this month and weather. When i was young, Christmas for me is vacation, wearing new clothes, meeting relatives and getting more presents. But it changed when i entered college and got a job. The meaning became saving money, meeting friends and buying presents specially for my godchildren. Generally, we defined Christmas as the birth of Christ. Everyone is busy buying presents but we never thought or gave anything to the Celebrant (Jesus). This Christmas, give your present to God. Surrender your life to Him and this is the best present that you can give. - idealpinkrose

~o0o~
We celebrate Christmas because it’s the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. It’s all about Love why HE was born and died on the cross for us. John 3:16-17 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” Therefore, for me the true meaning of Christmas is Love and with it comes forgiveness and reconciliation. We also remember His birth by giving each other gifts, worshipping Him, and being especially conscious of the poor and less fortunate. - Thinking Out Loud

~o0o~
Christmas for me is the ultimate reminder on how much God loves us, that He gave His only Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior. For me, its a celebration of love and a time to share our blessings to others.. a time for giving and reaching out to the less fortunate and it’s also a wonderful time to be with your family. Christmas is not just all about santa claus or the gifts that you will receive or for shopping, we should always remember that Jesus is the reason for the season and let us reflect on how much God loves us. - Just Let Go/Pieces of Me

~o0o~
Christmas is about giving love, forgiving. This remind us how lucky and how God love us when he gave us his only son Jesus Christ. A time for sharing our blessing to our family, friends and to others. - Celebrate Life/My Journey

~o0o~
When I was younger, I looked forward to every Christmas because that meant new dresses, new pair of shoes, toys and a lot of presents and money from ninongs and ninangs. Now that I’m older, married, and have my own family, I view Christmas differently. Remembering the birth of Jesus and the real reason why He was given to us by God the Father is the true meaning of Christmas for me. Whether you’re having an extravagant or just plain simple feast on the table, being together as a family especially on this blessed day is what really counts. Giving random acts of kindness to people you meet everyday and touching their lives in your own little way is more than giving expensive presents. These 3 are the true meaning of Christmas for me which I try to teach my children. - Liza of moms…..check nyo & A Simple Life.

~o0o~
To me, Christmas means my mom happily cooking to celebrate Jesus Christ's birth. She always sets up a tree, and her eyes shine as she does it - it is quite a treat for any daughter to witness: I love you mom! - MAX

~o0o~

This is the meaning of Christmas for me... Trinity:

As little children
We would dream of Christmas morn
Of all the gifts and toys
We knew we'd find
But we never realized
A baby born one blessed night
Gave us the greatest gift of our lives

We were the reason
That He gave His life
We were the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

As the years went by
We learned more about gifts
The giving of ourselves
And what that means
On a dark and cloudy day
A man hung dying in the rain
All because of love, all because of love

I've finally found the reason for living
It's in giving every part of my heart to Him
In all that I do every word that I say
I'll be giving my all just for Him, for Him

He is my reason to live

Have you opened your Christmas gift?

“Hey, is this a gift I gave to you several years ago?” I shouted to my friend when I found a familiar gift under her Christmas tree.

“Yup… still new and tidy huh?” answered my friend proudly.

“Are you kidding? Why have you never opened it?!” I poked her. I thought she was nuts not opening my present for her for years!

“Easy my friend, don’t be frown like that…” my friend tickled me trying to make me smile.

“You didn’t like my present, did you?” I felt a little bit offended, why did she refuse to open it I wonder.

“Of course I love it, dear… I love it so much; the wrapper is soooo beautiful, it has been my favorite gift all this time!”

“So why don’t you open it?”

“I love the wrapper very much and I don’t want to torn that wonderful wrapper!” she grinned… “I am sure I will love what’s inside, may be I will open the gift next week ok?”

I think she is so silly… the wrapper is not as valuable as the gift inside! However don’t you think we often act like that in Christmas time? We enjoy Christmas songs, Christmas decorations, Christmas atmosphere, Christmas fair, and we even get so busy in Christmas ministry at church. May be we all know the Christmas stories and have watched the Christmas drama over and over again, we know all about Christmas but we never really open gift of Christmas!

So what is the gift of Christmas? God has given us forgiveness, freedom from guilty feelings and eternal life in heaven guarantee and you never open it? Are you kidding? We’ll never get the greater gift than Jesus!

If our greatest need is information, God will send a teacher…
If our greatest need is technology, God will send a scientist…
If our greatest need is money, God will send a financial consultant…
If our greatest need is entertainment, God will send an entertainer …
But our greatest need is forgiveness, so God sent us The Redeemer.

My Best Friend and I

My favorite thing to do in the lovely afternoon is taking a walk with my Best Friend JC. It was 4 PM and the sun still showed its smile. This time JC and me were walking through a small village. Many kids were playing outside their house, flying their kites.

"Let's walk this way, JC" I pulled His hand. "There is a stable next to that house. It smells really bad. Let's take other way, I don't want to pass it, I can't stand with it's smell."

JC smiled. "I love to see animals. That smell is no problem for Me, actually that smell is so familiar for Me."

"Familiar?! You don't mean to say that You LOVE to smell it? Hahahaha..." JC tried to catch me and we run to a small hill near by and sat under the big tree. From above we could see the stable I avoided just now.

Taking a deep breath, JC stared at the stable. His right hands propped His head while His left hand played the grass. "I was born among the cattle and manger was my first bed, Trin"

"You must be kidding! No man in this world was born in a place like that, it is dirty and smelly. It was definitely not a good choice to bear a baby, JC. Why did Your Father let you to be born at the inappropriate place?"

"That was because My Father doesn't want to protect me from the hardness and bitterness of this world’s reality.”

“So You came to this world in that humble way and struggled with this uneasy and poor life to be among Your creation, us, human being, because You wanted to be similar with us, to feel what we feel, to experience our experiences, to understand our humanity…” I mumbled.

“I wonder how it felt, JC. You left Your Throne in Heaven, left all glory and power, You came to this real human world and the first air you inhaled as a powerless baby was the smell of animal’s dirt!”

JC laughed, ”Yes… you are right. That was bad… hahahaha… so smelly at first but we became used to it eventually… hahahaha”

“Oh JC…” I hugged Him, “I can imagine how humble You are! I mean, You are the Lord and You were willing to be born like the place that while I myself feel so reluctant just to pass that smelly stable! Why JC?”

He looked at my eyes and answered, “Simply because I love you…” I feel so touched, I hugged Him tightly. He started His life in our world in lower and disgraceful way than we were. He was born in the real family, worked as a low class carpenter for thirty years. He had neighbors and friends. He lived in this hard world just like us and He chose to die in humiliating way, accused for the crime He even never did! And He said, He did that because He loves me… He loves me…

That stable has opened my eyes to the new point of view how the stable has symbolized His unprotected life. When He came to our world in the first Christmas, He was unprotected from this hard reality so that He is able to understand and sympathize to all situations that we might have to face. When we pour all our troubles to Him, He can understand us.

He understand poverty and hunger, He has felt it…
Discrimination, suppression and repression, He has been a refugee in His first year life in this world…
Rejection, humiliation, has been the part of His daily life…
Neglected? He was neglected by his best friends when He really needed them by His side…
Death of the love ones? He experienced it several times…
Physically tormented? More than you and I have lived through!
He knows how life can be so unbearable,

When we feel so frustrated and want to give up,
When we are hurt so deep and loose our only hope,
When we feel that no body understand us,
Look at the stable…
Look at the stable and remember Someone understands us, He has experienced the same thing. Above all, we are precious in His eyes more than we could imagine. He has left all His glory and power, came to live among us, and suffered with us, just for us.

May we all are humble enough to come to His feet and put our trust to Him, allow Him to love and heal us back…

Christmas: from the angels' story

“Great news! I have the greatest news that never been heard before! Come near..come here!” Raphael calls all angels around him. They all are so excited; gather around Raphael in a second…

“Hear these news carefully fellow angels! I heard our Boss told Gabriel visit Mary, a virgin who live in Nazareth… The Boss will come to the earth!”

“WHUUAAT?!?!” the angels shout surprisingly together.

“The Boss will come to the earth?! Oh oh oh… I can’t believe it…I can’t believe it.. I think you misheard the news, Raphael. It has been 400 years the Boss has not spoken to human at all, why do He suddenly decide to visit the dirty ugly wicked world?!”

Hearing this unexpected news, the angels become so clamorous and noisy.

Raphael comes forward and shout, ”Attention…ehm..ehm..QUIET PLEASEEE!!”

The angels are silent in a sudden.

“I still have some work to do, I will be back to tell you more information about this. Please be ready for this SPECTACULAH PLAN, I’m sure we will have some great task to prepare and organize this AMAZING EVENT.”

Raphael flies and leaves the crowd of excited angels.

“Where is the most suitable place to be visited by our Almighty Boss I wonder….” An angel who is one of the cherubim members said.

“Hm… it must be an honorable, glamorous, luxurious and respectable place of course!”

“Oh no! Where is on earth there any place that worth visited by our Holy Almighty the Most High?! No where you know… absolutely no place is worthy enough can’t you get it? We have to prepare the place and make it worth enough! Oh … oh… we have to be hurry!!”

“Oh what an impossible task we have to do! That world has been too ruined and wicked to be mended… too many sorrows, sins, sufferings and all bad things… and now we have to prepare and clean a place to be visited by our Boss?! Impossible…. Impossiblaaahhh”

“Psst… psst… Raphael is coming again! He seems to be so serious! Quiet!”

Raphael comes with his bewildered face. “Ehm… attention please… Boss has decided to visit the world; He will become flesh and made His dwelling among human being.”

The angels look at Raphael with open mouths, the news is too unbelievable to be true.

“He has chosen a little town of Bethlehem as the place where He will be born as a baby; yes He will come as a baby from a Virgin Mary, wrapped in cloths and placed in a manger. The Boss has told Gabriel to tell the parents-to-be, to name Him Jesus, Immanuel –which means God with us”

“Oooooo……” the surprised chorus of the angels heard.

“But why….” whispered the beautiful angel softly…

“For God so loved the world… He wants to save the world through Himself…”

All of a sudden, Gabriel comes to the overwhelmed angels and says, “This is the great and joyful news to the world! Come along guys! We have to tell the shepherds in the fields now! Let’s bring this good news of the great joy to the people!”

And the great company of the heavenly host appeared to the humble shepherds, praising God and sing,

”Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests…”

Christmas gift

Whoa! I find this cool Nike golf clubs and I think this is a perfect Christmas gift for golf freak like Eric Speedcathollydale!! Eric, look what I find for you... :-D I never knew the golf clubs can be so macho and hot like this!

In our tradition, giving a Christmas gift is not so popular. We usually have a Christmas celebration at church, have a family sermon at Christmas Eve and participate in some Christmas activities. These activities has kept us busy and joyful that we even didn't expect to get any Christmas gift at all!

By the way this morning my son Clay asked me to buy him a toy car just like he had when he was 2 years old. He said he wanted Cliff to have the same experience with him, since his old car has broken and 'thrown' away, he asked me to buy a new one for 'Cliff'. When I told him that he is too big to ride that kind of car, he said he still can fit to it. So I know his real motivation to get that car is not for Cliff... hahaha...
