Dedicated to the brave people in Sichuan Earthquake, 2008

Yesterday I got these pictures from email, I cried as I showed this to my children.

An earthquake, magnitude 8.0, struck Sichuan province of China at 2:28PM, May 12, 2008. The epicenter of the earthquake, Wenchuan, is about 90 miles from Chengdu. The earthquake released more energy than 500 atomic bombs, 30 times more than the Kobe earthquake in Japan, 1995. By May 19, there are more than 32,000 confirmed dead, more than 20,000 still missing, and more than 4.7 million houses collapsed or heavily damaged.

Cities close to the epicenter are flattened; whole mountains collapsed.

Millions of people lost their beloved ones, their homes, their belongings. Yet there is no looting, no complaints, just people helping each other (CNN )

Within hours, people rushed to rescue. Blood donation lines run for 100 yards, and people waited hours to donate blood; within 24 hours, all major blood banks ran out storage space. The highway to the earthquake struck city Dujianyang (20 mile from Chengdu) was almost jammed one hour after the earthquake, not by people fleeing the aftershocks, but by volunteers, led by over 1,000 taxi drivers, came from Chengdu to rescue.

Chen Guangbiao(陈光标), owner of a big construction company 1,500 miles from the disaster area, just 2 hour 30 minutes after the earthquake, started transporting 60 construction machineries and led 120 volunteers to rescue. They arrived at the disaster area 24 hours later, almost the same time as Army Engineering Corp.

Medical workers provided care under extreme conditions; they even delivered many new born babies on the parking lot.

Wen Jiabao(温家宝), 66, Chinese Prime Minister, boarded on a plane 30 minutes after the earthquake, and arrived in disaster area in 2 hours. He has been the chief of the rescue operation since then, working almost around clock at the frontline with rescue workers.

1,1000 paratroopers started boarding airplanes 2 hours after earthquake. Despite heavy rain, high wind and thick cloud, they jumped from over 20,000 foot high to remote mountain areas where they did not even know if there would be a place for them to land. The first jumped off plane was Senior Colonel Li Zhenbo(李振波), 51.

My mom in law said that many of paratroopers has left a 'will' letter for their family just in case they wouldn't be able to come back home.

With roads buried by landslide and bad weather hammering airborne operations, a group of 600 soldiers and medical teams, let by Major General Xia Guofu(夏国富), 57, Commander in Chief of Sichuan Military District, walked 21 hours straight on foot in mountain area, carrying heavy relief supplies, risking landslide and falling rocks. They became the first group to arrive at the epicenter of the earthquake.

Soldiers and rescue workers working around clock to rescue people still buried. Unable to transport heavy machineries to the remote areas since roads are buried by landslides, they often have to use hands to move tons of concrete.

People are rushing to donate money. Many rich people donated in millions from their savings accounts, but no one can match Xu Chao(徐超), 60, on the right. He is a homeless in Nanjing, 1000 miles from the disaster area. He saw the news and went to donate 5 Yuan in the morning. He said people in the disaster area were worse off than him because their lives were threatened. He came back in the afternoon, donated another 100 Yuan ($14). He explained that all he had were pennies and dimes, and he didn’t want to waste volunteer workers’ time to count them, so he went to the bank to change everything he had into one big bill. This is from a man who doesn’t have money to buy food for himself.

Song Xinying (宋馨懿), 3, pulled out from rubble after being buried for 2 days. She was in critical condition and lost a leg, but survived. Her parents hold each other’s hands and shoulders face to face to make an arch to shield her from the falling building. Her parents did not make it out.

A 5 year old boy was rescued after being buried under rubbles for 24 hours. His left hand was broken, but he smiled and saluted to his rescuers. His smile made everybody cry.

Zhang Jiwang(张吉万), 11, carrying his sister Zhang Han(张韩), 3,walked 12 hours straight to flee the disaster center.

Yuan Wentin(袁文婷), 26, first grade teacher. When the earthquake struck, she rushed to carry her stunned students from classroom on the 3rd floor to the ground. She managed to pull out most of her students, but the building collapsed when she was trying to pull out the last few. At the last moment of her life, she was trying to use her body to shield the students from falling concrete.
Many teachers did the same thing. They are 谭千秋、张米亚、苟晓超、吴忠洪、杜正香......

This high school student was rescued from the collapsed building. She lost both legs, and her both hands are broken. The rescue workers were all in tears when they saw this. She smiled to them: “Be Brave!”

This baby, after being buried over 24 hours, miraculously, was rescued unscratched. He is about 3-4 months old, and his mother kneeled down, pinned her head and hands on the ground to shielded him from the falling concrete, and milked him. His mother did not make it out. A rescue worker found his mom’s cell phone in his wrapper. It had a text message left by his mother: “Dear child, if you survive, please remember, Mom loves you forever…”

It is so heartbreaking to see children lost their parents because they tried to protect their children from the falling concrete. I salute Chinese who has helped each other promptly. May God gives His everlasting comforts, strengths and blessings to all of us in this difficult times.

Health Information

Hey this is not a sponsored post, I just want to share this for you..

I am wearing this bracelet for healthy reason now... Are you familiar with this kind of bracelet?
My hubby and I use this together... my hubby wears it at day time and as soon as he is at home he gives it to me to wear it till morning. Wear in the right hand for healing, or in the left hand for vitality reason... Do you believe that?

The bracelet has infra red on it, and magnet to restore our energy balance. Some types of pain and illness are associated with imbalances in these biological electric and magnetic fields. Bio-electro-magnetic therapy realigns the fields to correct imbalances and bring relief in a number of common conditions including Arthritis, Joint and muscle pain, shoulder pain, back ache, neck ache, period pain and stress.

This bracelet can protect us from phone cells and computer radiation. We see this proven. Last Sunday my hubby saw a teenager doing pancho with a little boy. He was talking with his handphone and you know what, the little boy can win over him... My hubby then told the teenager to put away the handphone and do the pancho again... he can win this time... handphone radiation can make our body weak indeed! I am so glad we bought this accessories as my hubby uses handphone ALL THE TIME... almost everytime! :-P Just find out there is a dolphin bracelet!! Waaaa!! So cute!

If you are interested to know more about this... pm me ok? *wink* I can give you reference to buy the best bio technology product... ok? ok?

I got another information about health...
If you and your hubby has been waiting to have a baby for some years, try this trick! Ask your hubby to wear Boxer underwear... hopefully, in a few months, he can make you pregnant...hahaha.. Some couple has tried this... so why not?

    My Dad's birthday celebration

Remember that my dad has passed away in 2005? Today is his birthday! This morning I told my kids about this in the car on the way to church. Clay spontaneously sang "Happy birthday Grandpa" and we sang together happily. Though we know that he is not here with us anymore, we love to remember him in this special day. I called my mom to tell her about this, she said my sister also remembered this special day.

I write a special post as my Tribute to my dad, please visit the blog and tell me what you think. I would really appreciate it if you also could write a post about your dad and email it to me. I will treasure your post in Tribute to Dads blog as a precious collection! I need to make clear statement here, that the blog is not in loving memoriam blog... it is Tribute to Dad... and if your dad is alive and you can give him a tribute, it is much much better, isn't it? Do email me your tribute to your dad to: tutug.rice [at] gmail [dot] com. Don't wait until your dad is gone and you are too late to ponder how precious it is to have a dad! Yes, I admit that most of the posts in the blog are dedicated to dads who has passed away... so sad... I think it is because we doesn't aware how much we miss him until we lost him. No? So, why don't you write about him now?

Something do happen today... unusual! Hail storm in my neighborhood! Here is 23.7 celcius and there was ice rain (hail?) that never happened before. Incredible! Surprising! Thrilling! We just thought it was an usual ice rain... just for a moment only, but the rain was so noisy that we ran to the window to see what happened. You can see the picture no.1, we already surprised to see so many ice outside, but then the hail was not stopped.

    Photobucket

    Then it became like this!

    Photobucket

In 4 seasons countries, this kind of rain is not abnormal, isn't it? But we really never saw this before! The right picture above was taken from Clay's bedroom window... Amel, you must be so surprise that we have 'snow' in Bandung! LOL

Thank God the hail doesn't ruin fiber optic cables so I still can get internet connection and blog. Poor plants...they are ruined... My bedroom's ceiling was leak as well.. So many ice stuck on our roof. Thanks to my hubby for his help moving all the ice from the roof to the drainage ditch behind our house. He got a hot water shower and a hot chocolate milk after working so hard. :-)

One more thing, don't forget to wait for the CHUP result on April 1th ok! I will have a very special post that day... don't miss the chup as well!

New Game In Rooms of My Heart!!

For photohunters fellow please do scroll down... my entry is below this post. Anyway, do participate in my game on this post as well!

This is March and I will play a new comment game here! I ask LB to allow me to join his Hug Hug Club Resorts, for more information T H H C™. I got a brand new THHC logo especially made for me by the Chairman Albie Wong! Thank you.... *take a bow* Ok, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, Mr. Albie Wong, the Chairman of to give you some explanation about THHC™ here... *clap your hands*

    What is T H E H U G H U G C L U B™ ?

T H E H U G H U G C L U B™ (THHC™) is all about Hugs. It is akin to frequent flier points, in that you, the commentator, accumulate as many points as you can, to eventually become King/Queen of the Heap! At the end of the day, it is mainly about making & being friends, scratching & screaming, CHUP! & that rush of adrenalin to the brain, to enjoy yourselves, to spread the joy of Hugs in a sometimes bewildering world of Blogging. The bottom line: Have fun!

The Joy of HUGS/CHUPS in a nutshell:

THHC awards points to the first three unique commentators of each new post on their blogs. The first commentator would receive 5 points, the second 3 points, and the third 1 point.

These points are then added to that particular commentator’s scores for the Month. The top three commentators win the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals at the end of each month.

Each THHC™ Resort may have their own peculiar means of awards, according to their needs. These are the THHC™ Resort around the world:

    albie | angel | kyh | leonard | may | rinnah | selby | trinity | wennnn

*~*~*~*~* thank you Mr. Albie Wong for the preface*~*~*~*~*

This is what LB did for his points summary.. Look, I was the last commentator who got the least point on November!

And I was kicked from the list on December... no point at all! In January my rank was improved... I was in the second layers now.. Yippeee! The biggest ones on top are the top points earners.... It's really fun!
Look what I achieved in February! February is really my month of the year! I got the highest layer! Got the silver medal! Yaaaaay!!! Look here to read the Champion All Star Hugs

And I just received my PHHC™ prize (Premier Hug Hug Club) today!! Yihaaaaa.....!! Really twinkling...blinking...gorgeous heart! I loooove it! Thank you Albie! *jumping around with joy*

Now, it's time for us to play the game here....I made a little adjustment of the rule:

Since I post several posts a day sometimes, I will put this glowing heart sign for my featured posts for you to CHUP. The 3 first commentators on posts which begin with this sign only, who will get the points. But, please, do read and leave your comments on every posts of course.. :-D

I made this rule to make me easier to count the points. I will be very busy counting and taking a note for the points if I do many posts and every post is counted!

You see?! This is really fun! Come and join me... look for a chance to grab and collect your points and see who gets the medals this month!

    Good bye, Mr. Suharto

(Foto extracted from Channel News Asia video)

    Goodbye our Former President Suharto,
thank you for all you've done for Indonesia.

JAKARTA : Former president Suharto died on Sunday, 27th January 2008, at about 13:10 (0610 GMT), aged 86, his family and police said at a Jakarta hospital.

Mr Suharto ruled Indonesia for 32 years.

He was known as the country's Father of Development for his efforts in bringing millions of Indonesians out of the poverty trap. But his policies of favouring the conglomerates with links to his family and friends proved to be his undoing.

He resigned in 1998 amid political upheaval and a crippling economic crisis that triggered widespread opposition to his regime. After his downfall Mr Suharto rarely appeared in public, living in seclusion in Jakarta's leafy Menteng neighbourhood, fighting law suits and ill health.

Suharto has been in and out of hospital for various ailments in recent years, including at least two strokes and stomach problems.
His last trip to hospital for serious reasons was in May 2006, when he was rushed in for treatment following a bout of intestinal bleeding and spent almost a month there.

Following the death in 1996 of his wife Siti Hartinah Suharto, better known as Tien Suharto, the former president surrounded himself with his children. Eldest daughter Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana was often by his side although his youngest and reputedly favourite son, Hutomo Mandala Putra, popularly known as Tommy was well-known. Prosecutors have brought a multi-million-dollar civil law suit against Tommy in a land scam case. He has also been named as a suspect in a criminal case that involves a state monopoly he used to head.

Suharto steered Indonesia from being a fractious economic backwater to an icon of development, until the 1997 Asian economic crisis unravelled much of the progress and exposed the devastating impact corruption had wrought on the nation.

Suharto has been accused of being one of the 20th century's worst kleptocrats by amassing billions of dollars for himself, his family and cronies while in power. A criminal trial against him was abandoned on health grounds, though a civil suit is currently being heard. The government is seeking 1.4 billion dollars in damages and returned assets allegedly accrued through a charitable foundation Suharto chaired while in power.

With Mr Suharto out of the picture, the country underwent a transformation.

That resulted in a new political, social and economic landscapes collectively known as the Era of Reformasi.
